“토심재철 土心在哲”
“흙의 마음 안에 밝음이 있다”
애정하는 마음의 고향, 이재철 도예공방은 올해 10주년을 맞았습니다.
많은 추억과 배움이 가득했던 이재철 도예공방에서의 시간들에 감사하며 10주년을 기념한 엠블럼을 만들었고 그것을 활용한 포스터를 만들어 선물해드리는 시간을 가졌습니다.
10년 동안 갖은 풍파를 이겨오며 공방을 가꾼 공방장 이재철 님에게 이다음 10년, 20년을 이어나갈 힘을 드리고 싶었습니다.
흙을 만지고 빚는 ‘과정의 즐거움’을 알려주셨던 공방장님의 이름글자에는 (在 있을 재 哲 밝을 철) 밝음이 있었습니다. 결국, 흙을 사랑하는 마음 안에 이재철 님의 본연의 모습이 있고 이름글자대로 밝음이 있다고 여겨졌습니다.
그래서 ‘토심재철 土心在哲 흙의 마음 안에 밝음이 있다’라는 글귀가 떠올랐고, 한 자 한 자 글자를 빚었습니다. 어쩌면 찾아올지도 모를 고민의 순간, 공방장님에게 작은 단서가 될 수도 있지 않을지 생각해봅니다.

The hometown of affection, Clay JC Ceramic Studio celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.
Thanks to the time at Clay JC Ceramic Studio, which was filled with many memories and learnings, I made an emblem to commemorate the 10th anniversary and made a poster using it.
I wanted to give strength to continue the next 10 and 20 years for the studio manager Lee Jae-cheol, who has overcome all kinds of storms and storms over the past 10 years.
There was brightness in the letters of the name of the studio manager who taught me the ‘joy of the process’ of touching and making clay. (The letter 在 that composes his name means 'exists' and is read as 'Jae'. 哲 means 'brightness' and is read as 'Cheol'). It has its original appearance and was considered to have brightness as the name suggests.
So I came up with the phrase ‘Tosimjaecheol 土心在哲 There is brightness in the heart of soil’, and I made each letter. At the moment of worry that may come, I think about whether it can be a small clue to the head of the workshop.
